Who We Are

Evansville Art Center (EAC) is home to Evansville Arts Coalition, a 501(c)3 community arts organization, serving the people of Evansville, Minnesota, and the surrounding communities of Douglas, Grant, and Otter Tail Counties with arts programming since 1995. Our motto is "all the Arts for all the People" and we strive to bring a wide variety of arts activities and experiences to people of all ages, preschool through retirement years. EAC welcomes local musicians to Open Mic Night on the the third Thursday of every month, holds special concerts frequently throughout the year, and hosts Poetry Night - the longest running literary event of its kind - every year during National Poetry Month. We also engage the community through other events.

The Evansville Arts Coalition was founded to further arts activities in Evansville and surrounding communities. It was incorporated in 2004 when a local family donated the second oldest building in Evansville to serve as exhibit space, a music venue and a place for artists-in-residence to sell their work. Our building’s history includes two stints as a drug store and at least two cafes.  

We are a membership organization with individual, family, and corporate members. Our annual fall membership drive is the basis for our operating funds. For special projects we rely on grants from local businesses, foundations, and Lake Region Arts Council.  We are an all volunteer organization and have 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt status. No members receive compensation for their efforts on behalf of the organization.

History:  Evansville Arts Coalition was first organized in 1995, incorporated as a Minnesota nonprofit in 1996, and received tax-deductible designation as a 501(c)3 from the IRS in 1997.  The building known as the Evansville Art Center was donated in 2004.

EAC is grateful to Lake Region Arts Council for it’s support on many of our projects and programs.
