Four Points of Light

Studios will be open on Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17, 2024

Four Points of Light Studio Locations

Evansville artists put “Four Points of Light” on the map, and open their studios to the public.

There’s strength in numbers, as the saying goes, and that led Evansville artists Calvin deRuyter, Lyssa Lovejoy, Jackie Henning, and Stephen Henning to combine their efforts to draw more studio visitors this summer.

The four accomplished artists, working from three studios within just a few minutes of each other, will concurrently open their studios one weekend each month this summer.

The first weekend will be Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29. Studios will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. August dates are Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17.

Unique Artists, Unique Visual Art

Calvin deRuyter, Lyssa Lovejoy, Stephen Henning, and Jackie Henning

As one might expect, with four unique artists visitors will find a variety of visual art.

Calvin deRuyter paints landscapes and abstracts that appeal to two different audiences.

Sometimes he is accused of painting two different paintings on the same sheet of paper – but in reality, he is painting his truth, the ying-yang that is deRuyter.

Lyssa Lovejoy is a painter who explores diverse art forms, in series of images that share a story-telling theme. Regardless of the medium or subject, Lyssa’s ultimate goal is to allow each piece to tell its own story.

Jackie Henning taps into her extensive background in both photography and faux finishing to create intricate mixed media images. Jackie’s works incorporate elements of photography, painting, found objects and created textural elements.

Stephen Henning is a landscape painter working in both traditional and experimental impressionist styles. Inspired by Nature, he strives to create soothing images that take viewers far from the madding crowd.

“We hope to extend our collaboration beyond just opening our studios,” said Lyssa. “We share a sense of mutual support and camaraderie, and that spirit of collaboration can lead to shared successes and creative growth.”

There is great potential for group exhibitions in the near future” added Stephen. “We are blessed to be artists, and thankfully we are living in Minnesota – a shining star when it comes to the arts.”
