“A Love of Animals”

Visual artist, Sandy Freeman, brings her exhibit “A Love of Animals” to Evansville Art Center Gallery for the month of August.

Freeman, who was born and raised between Alexandria and Morris,  has lived most of her life on a ranch in Texas, raising horses and cattle. Training and showing dressage horses became her passion, until she retired and rode in the grand entry of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

She started painting 20 years ago, first learning to use watercolors and pastels. Now her preferred medium is oil.   Sandy has gained international recognition for her painting, “Duke”, an oil and acrylic painting of the horse she rode for many years in the Grand Entry of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

Sandy Freeman’s love of all animals led to a desire to represent their endearing natures through her paintings. Her unexpected use of color and sense of humor are used to capture each individual’s character and personality. She has shown her work in galleries and shows in Texas and Minnesota.  Back in the area for two years now, and retired from horses, she is focusing most of her time on painting and accepts commissioned work.

“A Love of Animals”  may be seen from August 2 through August 31 at Evansville Art Center during Gallery hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
