"Leaving the Classroom to Entering the Studio"
That is the title of September’s Gallery exhibit by visual artist Kathy Grundei. Kathy has an art degree from St. Cloud State University and an MEd. from Hamline University. She taught art in a number of K-12 school districts for 35 years and worked as a Program Specialist for Arts Integration with the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
Kathy says she has always found the beauty of nature to provide an amazing source of awe and inspiration. While she makes no attempt to portray actual landscapes, plants or animals, she does want her art to look like they could have lived or grown somewhere. Living with beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds us to slow down and helps us reconnect with nature
In 2015 she opened Artscape Studio (101 Nokomis Street, Studio #4 Alexandria MN) for creating and selling her art. Kathy has also participated in art crawls, studio tours and solo and group exhibitions. With a second home in Medina, Minnesota, she has exhibited in a number of locations in the Twin Cities. Her areas of interest include abstract and realistic styles using collage, mixed media and watercolor.
One of Kathy’s favorite quotes about art and nature is from an unknown source. She says the quote sums up how she feels about being an artist. “There is no other resource so plentiful, ever-changing, and full of information than nature around us. Get ready to dive in with both feet and don’t forget to bring your sense of humor.”
Come to the Gallery and see what that looks like! ”Leaving the Classroom and Entering the Studio” Exhibit will be on display from September 6 through September 28 during regular Gallery hours from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
