Explore Oil Pastels with Stephen Henning
Workshop introduces this fun medium to beginners and experienced artists, too.
On Saturday, March 2, Evansville Arts Coalition (EAC) is proud to offer a workshop taught by locally-based artist Stephen Henning. The workshop will be held at EAC during our normal hours - from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Henning, who is nationally known for his landscapes in oil pastel, has twice had oil pastel paintings juried into the American Impressionist Society’s Annual Exhibitions - once in Chicago, IL, and again in Palm Springs, CA. He has also taught numerous workshops around Minnesota, and across the Midwest.
Why are oil pastels a popular artistic medium? “They are very affordable to work with, they are not very messy, they are non-toxic,” says Henning. “And you can finish a work of art very quickly.”
The workshop will include a couple simple practice exercises and technique demonstrations, before attendees start creating a new piece of their own. Participants are encouraged to bring reference images of a favored subject from which to work. Cost of the class is $50, plus materials. Attendees should bring a bag lunch and their own sets of oil pastels, although the artist may have some sets available for purchase on site.
For further details and to register, call the artist directly at 218-948-2288 by February 29.
