Looking Ahead: August’s First Friday Concert and Open Mic Night

Two Opportunities to Enjoy Live Music in the Great Outdoors!

Though August often reminds us that the Summer is almost over, there are still various activities to do before the weather turns cold once more. This month, we have two exciting events coming up—both of which we hope you will attend!

Music and Fun for Everyone!

Once again held at City Park, Blue Wolf Duo - Shirley and Jerry Spanhanks - play a variety of instruments and styles that are sure to captivate even the youngest of attendees. Performing original songs and several different genres such as bluegrass, gospel, country and rock and roll, there is something for everybody to enjoy! Highly skilled on the dobro, banjo, fiddle and upright bass, Jerry gives lively performances with Shirley who has studied bluegrass for several years and is a master on the guitar.

This event will be fun for the whole family! While we are unable to share desserts and beverages, we will have cold water available and the restrooms will be open. This concert will begin promptly at 7pm and end at 8:30pm. We ask that you bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit on. Social distancing is required as are wearing masks.

Bring a friend—we’ll see you there!

Open Air Open Mic

For our Open Mic Night this August, we will be taking it to the Open Air! Thursday, August 20th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, the Evansville Historical Foundation stage will be our host for your chance to perform! This stage is located at Gran and Union Streets near County Highway 82. This is your chance to have your special talent seen and heard! There will be a full line up of performers for you to watch, and they’ve certainly missed having an audience as much as you’ve missed their music.

Like our other outdoor events, we will be unable to share desserts and beverages, though cold water will be available and restrooms will be open. Social distancing is required, and masks are also required by law in public events.

We hope you will attend either one or both of these fun performances. Be sure to continue checking our events page as well as our blog to read the latest news and stay up-to-date with what will be coming up next!
